2010 Programme of Italy Regional Educational visits for international wine importers
Please find attached a provisional list of ‘events’ and visits to some of Italy’s most interesting wine producing areas programmed for 2010. These are wine focused and are programmed and led by Michèle Shah (wine writer and critic for a number of International publications – Author of Wines of Italy – published by Mitchell Beazley, 2006)
The groups are small and the itineraries are very focused with general tastings of the wines of the area as well as winery visits of historic and emerging producers. Attention is also given to the ‘territory’ - its cultural identity and gastronomic specialities.
Extreme effort is placed on the organizational aspects: eg logistics and punctuality, to enable us to get in as much tasting and visits as possible spaced with short breaks and informal dinners in typical local restaurants.
Michèle Shah has been leading tours and organizing workshops in collaboration with Italy’s Regional Associations and Consortiums in Italy (with an increasing crescendo of destinations) since year 2000.
While most Educationals are in the final stages of approval/confirmation, they are all listed in order to facilitate participants’ planning. Selection of participants is subject to the approval of the sponsoring association consortium/producer association. Usually all expenses are covered on these Educationals and events. 23-25 Amarone 2006 - A showcasing of the 2006 Amarone vintage to be held in Verona open for International press only. INVITATIONS SENT TO PRESS ONLY - countries: Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Canada, USA, UK, Russia, India, Korea, Hong Kong. 50% COMPLETED - FINISHED
27-31 January - Movimento del Turismo Puglia - regional visit for International press - completed - FINISHED

24-27 February Winett Tast & Trade Venice - Hotel Westin Europa & Regina
Michèle Shah in collaboration with Winett will be organizing a three day b2b event with s selection of Italian wine estates participating from all Italy. The workshops will be dedicated to GDO - national supermarket chains; a Mix of International (mainly Europe) buyers and a Mix of Asian Buyers who are currently being selected. 28th February to 2nd March - Arezzo Wine has now merged with Rimini Divino Lounge trade fair with a showcasing of all Italy. A b2b workshop for wine importers will be organized over two days and one day will be free to explore the fair open to trade only. Completed FINISHED
March/April
Vinitaly – Like past year I will be putting together a group of importers to attend Vinitaly’s importer programme in Verona, which will involve participating in a programme of Vinitaly’s choice within the fair grounds and having time free to plan one’s own programme. In the past this has consisted in two days of Vinitaly’s official programme and two days free for importers to make their own programme.

Trentino Sprint & Trentino Spa - Organizing a press trip and an importer trip for northern European countries (scandinavia) and Baltic Countries as wells as Eastern Europe and Russia. The trip will include inviting 20 participants to the Mostra del Vino in the centre of Trentino where over 300 sparkling, still wines and grappas will be showcased by their producers. There will also be winery visits for both groups.

AWE (Association of Wine Educators) UK
Organizing a trip for the AWE to visit one of Italy’s regions - Possibly Veneto - Valpolicella and Friuli - Isonzo. AWE recruiting their own participants.

Brunello di Montalcino - Workshop and winery visits for a small group of importers from Belgium and Holland
3-6 of October currently being planned and importers sourced. ALL PARTICIPANTS NOW SOURCED
2-4 November 2010 Winett Tast & Trade Venice in conjunction with Merano Wine Festival - Hotel Westin Europa & Regina. ALL IMPORTERS HAVE BEEN SELECTED - ITALIAN WINE PRODUCERS ARE CURRENTLY SUBSCRIBING - only 4 places (out of 60) now available.
